our story
Our mission is to showcase the best of sweet Dutch street food using honest, fresh ingredients and traditional methods, while keeping it inventive and fun.
As the daughter of a Dutchman I was raised on stroopwafels, sweet and salty licorice and speculaas. Not to mention the expertly crafted kroketten and appeltaarts that my kiwi mum whipped up with ease.
While Andrew & I were living in Europe, we were able to spend some time in the Netherlands, visit family and experience Dutch market fare made fresh. (Quite the novelty after growing up in New Zealand where stroopwafels only came in packets that never seemed to expire!)
And so along came Montfoort, with a simple yet exciting mission to showcase the best of sweet Dutch street food using honest, fresh ingredients and traditional methods, while keeping it inventive and fun.
Every weekend you'll find us serving our delicious Dutch sweets from our caravan. Find out our locations here.
Dutch street food is traditionally very simple, but everyone loves something a little extra. So we'll always have our famous salted caramel sauce, home made apple stroop or fresh lemon curd to top your poffertjes with.
All Montfoort products are made from scratch, by us, with proper ingredients.

OUR PRODUCTS
Montfoort Stroopwafels
The Montfoort Stroopwafel is the result of many trial batches and endless taste tests. Giving you a classic, Dutch biscuit filled with a gooey spiced caramel - and a few secret spices for good measure!
We make these fresh to order at the markets, or you can pick up a pack for that hot cuppa below. Each pack contains 5 stroopwafels.
Montfoort Poffertjes
Best described as puffy, bite-sized pancakes, made even more lekker using my lovely Tante (Aunty) Greet's recipe. Always served with lashings of butter and powdered sugar. Perfect topped with our homemade apple stroop or famous salted caramel.
Served at our Paraparaumu Pop-up, the Harbourside Market, and fairs all year long!
Montfoort Oliebollen
Dutch Donuts made with a fresh yeast dough, filled with cinnamon spiced apple and raisins. Always served piping hot, sprinkled with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar. A Wellington favourite when it's cold outside! If you're lucky, we'll have custard cream and sticky caramel dippers to take your donuts to the the next level!
Served on the first Sunday of every month over Autumn & Winter at the Harbourside Market.
